Great podcast over on “The Force Field” pertaining to The State of the IT Industry. I listened to Patrick Palmers from TheComputerGuy the other day and was very impressed. Rick does a great job asking the questions and you might be surprised with some of the answers Patrick gives. It really does not look like all gloom and doom..

I was (am?) working for Circuit City while they clear everything out for liquidation. I was a “firedog”, their Lead Computer Technician. I can say first hand that my Dog On Fire buisness is doing great since Circuit City’s demise! It’s sad to see the larger chains go but it leaves room for smaller “mom n’ pop” shops to setup buisness again. I think that technology (and specifically repair) is always going to remain constant; everyone has issues, right?!

Everyone has issues there is no doubt, but just like anything else people push there limits as far as they can before it needs to be fixed. Like if you are short for cash your not gonna go get your car fixed. You will wait till its just about to break or right when it breaks. Simple as that.

For my small computer repair company in long island it seems that the more I have been advertising the less calls I have been getting. Signs of the economy i suppose.
