I read all the time from other owners about things such as Geek Squads $19.95 per month unlimited repairs and how to counter things like that. No matter how many times I see these things or hear about them I always come to the same conclusion and that is to “worry about my own business”. I do not have the time or the patience to track what all the big box companies are doing nor do I care what they are doing. I will never be able to compete against any of them in price on repairs and probably on parts also.

By the same token I am sure they are not sitting home thinking “gee I wonder what Computer Medics” is doing this month for their business….Bottom line is they don’t care and they never will.

What I can do on a continual basis is offer top notch repair services at a fair price and also a genuine concern for our customers. Now if I call a plumber or any other service industry professional and they tell me they will do the job right, charge me a fair price and tell me that my problem is now their problem….Well it does not get any better than that.

Nobody is paying me hourly to work for my company or to take care of my customers. I do it because I have a passion for the industry and for helping others. Big box companies can not claim because to them the bottom line is “profit margin” so they are going to hire who they have to, when they have to and pay them what they want to.

Bottom line is my business will continue to grow and we will continue to add services to our business line in order to provide outstanding services to our customers. Tommorow I will run a $25 discount to all our customers and no big box “employee” can make that same decision.

    $25 discount is attractive.

It can be hard for a smaller company to always try and keep up with the bigger game. I think your attitude is very sensible and I like repairing laptops and computers for the satisfaction it brings not the money.

Nice big discounts are a key to keeping customers happy. I do a lot of discounts to new and existing customers to make sure they come back when they need me again.

You are spot on! Many of my customers hear in Houston have been to the geeks or other computer repair companies but once they meet me or one of my tech they always call us back. I think the reason they do is because we can offer personalized service in a professional manner. So ya, I don’t worry too much about what the other guys do. Thanks for reaffirming my sentiments.

I think competing on quality of service rather that price is key here. You don’t want people to think your just another discount service or they will start treating you like one. Exceed customer expectations and they will keep coming back.

Totally agree, we provide a No Fix No Fee service as we are sure that we can fix 99% of the problems we encounter on the spot, but the big box companies are relying on the “no claims” to support those who use the service, a standing order or direct debit for $19.99 a month every month comes out and if you’ve not used it they win. I use local suppliers too to help keep our independent local business community thriving.
