Received an email the other day (actually my 2nd notification it said) and it starts with:

“Recently you were selected as an inductee into the Distinguished Professionals Online Registry Among Executives. This selection was based on our research committees efforts to identify top professionals around the globe. ”

Pretty impressive isn’t it? But the more I look at it the top starts with:
Dear <#contactname#>,

So I think to myself how can they not even know my name after their “research committee” hand selected our business and myself for this distinguished award.

Now if you go to the link it takes you to a form to fill out and if you try going to the actual domain itself it takes you to an “Under Construction” page for the domain of www.distinguishedprofessionalswhoswho.com

I suppose they were so busy in their research for distinguished people and businesses that they forgot to build their website.

If you receive this email….well I can assure you that you were not selected by a selection committee anymore than I was…

For some reason I think if the time ever comes that I would win an award like this they would actually pick up the phone and call me ;)

Just a thought….

Oh man, I was so jazzed about being a distinquished professional too…. I got the same message, and like the Nigerian scams have been deleting them… I thought I was the only one… so there is more than one distiquished professional . . . Ha ha!

Ugh… I always wonder how it is that they find us.

I’ve been getting more scam emails lately than ever before (read: in 2010/2009).

Also…I’ve been getting about one “I have ten laptops need repair” per week from “the gentleman who will pay you fast with cashier ‘cheque.’”

That’s so funny, I got the same thing too. I didn’t bother doing all the research you did but it’s good to know that you did. Thanks!

There are really a lot of online scams. It is really surprising how they get email addresses. Caution is important nowadays.

I just got one like this in my email, very similar, but they were using a different name. Googled the name, and bam, nothing but complaints and nothing about a real company. They wanted me to buy plaques and signs stating my award…..lol.
